Dear Diary,
Yesterday I was out front of my house surveying the damage and making plans for my new house. It was twilight out and everything was quite because it was Sunday night. I decided to take a walk around the block before heading back to Miss Stephanie’s. She has been gossiping like crazy and I’m tired of it. I passed the Finch’s and then I walked passed the Radley’s place. I didn’t linger long, I felt like someone was watching me. I walked up a bit further and did a wide U-turn. I was getting tired for my old age. I slowed down a bit to catch my breath.
I was coming up to the Radley’s house when I saw the screen door open and a tall figure came out. I was frozen in shock and fear. I calmed myself down and continued walking on; trying to act unaware of whomever was standing on the porch. It’s Nathan Radley, it’s only Nathan Radley, I thought over and over again. I looked out of the corner of my eye and took in the features of the man. It was not Nathan. The man looked similar to Nathan but taller and with longer hair. This must be Arthur. He looked similar to the boy I remembered years ago. He looked into my eyes for a moment before I averted them and tried not to look back. I heard the door open again and I heard the voice of Nathan Radley in a loud whisper saying, “Arthur! Get in now, and stop sneaking off into the night!” I picked up the pace again and finally reached the door of Miss Stephanie. I shut the door and quickly and locked it.

Hey Miss Maudie,
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you really saw Boo, I mean Arthur Radley. I wish I would have been there to see him. I really hope you tell Jem and Scout about this. They might not believe you though because I told them that I saw Boo, and they didn't believe me. I didn't get a good look at him. It sounds like you did though. Well I gotta get goin. I can't wait to see you again in the summer Miss Maudie.
